Saturday, March 1, 2008 Faculty of Forestry Gadjah Mada University entered a new era of learning denganpeluncuran video teleconference facility utilization (VICON). Perangkatbermerek Sony IPELA G-50 was cultivated through INHERENT layoffs, which we have won with the Faculty of Agricultural Technology and the Department of Electrical Engineering as a representative of the UGM.

Indonesia has a forest area of 120.35 million ha. Approximately 48 million people of Indonesia rely on the existence of life these forests. Regrettably, however, approximately 59 million ha of forest resources has been degraded. There are various factors which cause, among other things, because that is not true management, forest conversion for various development purposes outside the forestry sector, illegal logging, encroachment, and deforestation.

UGM mewisuda 1451 people, comprising 1236 graduate degree programs and 215 graduate Diploma programs, Tuesday (19 / 5), the House Grha Sabha Pramana UGM. Thus, since the establishment of UGM, has produced 199,395 graduates.

Head Center for the Study of Economic Democracy (PSEK) UGM, Prof.. Dr. San Afri Awang, M.Sc., said the application based economic system in the forestry sector is less encouraging. This can be seen from the still lack of government regulations and ministerial regulations which pro-people, pro-poor, and pro-job.

Indonesia hosted the 37th Forestry Students Symposium

Indonesia's forestry students welcomed 150 participants from 47 countries for the symposium to the 37 forestry students on July 26 to August 9, 2009. University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) and the Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) jointly organized this annual event after the symposium in Bulgaria in 2008 and in South Africa in 2007. This activity is supported by the Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Education, the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), GTZ and Sinarmas Forestry.

Quantitative forest management

Currently, non-economical aspects during forest management has only been given less attention, however, social and ecological aspects in the long-term period need to be considered during development of sustainable foret management strategies. Involvement of these non-economical aspects would provide a wider perspective on risk factors in the long-term periods. To better understand those overall economical and non-economical factors during planing of any forest management, we need to confidently predict what the future results will be, by using decision support system (DSS).

Selama dua puluh tahun terakhir ini, di banyak negara berkembang terjadi perubahan kebijakan yang secara fundamental mempengaruhi penyelenggaraan pengelolaan sumberdaya alam yakni desentralisasi pengelolaan sumberdaya alam. Demikian pula yang terjadi di Indonesia, proses desentralisasi telah berlangsung sejak akhir 1998. Desentralisasi mempunyai beberapa dimensi dan konsekuensi, termasuk di dalamnya adalah konsekuensi pengurusan sumberdaya alam termasuk di dalamnya adalah pengurusan sumberdaya hutan (forestry governance).

For a long time local people reside in forest areas have been marginalized and even neglected by any system in forest management. Those systems however have been proven to be ineffective and have largely contributed to unfair use and unsustained forest resource. Many cases of illegal logging, in part, have rooted to this unfair uses of forest resources.
